Meet the Artists

Quinlynn Rainey

Quinlynn Rainey, an artist rooted in Redding, California, developed a deep passion for glassblowing that shaped her educational and professional journey. Growing up in Redding, a city nestled in Northern California’s Shasta County, Quinlynn was immersed in a community surrounded by natural beauty, which likely influenced her creative inclinations. Her artistic path began to take form when she enrolled at Shasta College, a local institution known for its supportive arts programs. There, she pursued an Associate’s Degree in Art with an emphasis on glass, discovering her love for the dynamic and transformative process of glassblowing. The hands-on nature of the medium, combined with its blend of technical skill and creative expression, captivated her, setting the foundation for her future career.

Eager to deepen her expertise, Quinlynn continued her education at California State University, Chico (Chico State), a respected institution with a robust fine arts program. At Chico State, she chased a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art, again focusing on glass as her primary medium. The university’s glass program, known for its emphasis on both traditional and experimental techniques, allowed her to refine her craft and explore the artistic potential of glassblowing. During her time at Chico State, Quinlynn not only honed her technical skills but also developed a vision for how she could contribute to her community through her art. Her dedication to learning and experimentation during these years was driven by a desire to master the medium and share its possibilities with others.

Shortly before graduating from Chico State, Quinlynn met Steven Epperson, who would become her husband and creative partner. Their shared vision and complementary skills laid the groundwork for both a family and a professional collaboration. Even before completing her degree, Quinlynn envisioned establishing a local glassblowing business that would serve as a creative hub in Redding. She saw an opportunity to create hand-blown glass art for the community while offering lessons to inspire and educate others about the craft. This dream became reality in 2022 when Quinlynn and Steven founded Red Hot Glass LLC. The business reflects their commitment to producing unique, high-quality glass art and fostering a hands-on learning environment for aspiring artists. Through Red Hot Glass LLC, Quinlynn has realized her goal of blending artistic production with community engagement, making glassblowing accessible and inspiring to those in Redding and beyond.

Quinlynn Rainey’s journey from a Redding native to a skilled glass artist and entrepreneur highlights her determination, creativity, and community-oriented spirit. Her education at Shasta College and Chico State provided the technical and artistic foundation for her work, while her partnership with Steven Epperson and the establishment of Red Hot Glass LLC in 2022 have cemented her impact on the local arts scene. Today, Quinlynn continues to create and teach, embodying the transformative power of glassblowing as both an art form and a means of connection.
